Summer Production: "High School Musical 2"
The Playhouse in the Park will present the hit Disney musical "High School Musical 2" at the Playhouse July 30 - August 22. Performances will be Fridays and Saturdays at 7:30 p.m., and Sundays at 2:30 p.m.
A cast of 50 local youth will present this classic, with all new sets, lighting, and costumes.
In this sequel to High School Musical, school's out for summer, and the East High Wildcats are ready to make it the time of their lives. Follow the adventures of Troy, Chad, Taylor, Zeke, Martha, Kelsi, Jason and the rest of the Wildcat pals as they work at the posh summer resort Lava Springs, which, of course, includes a club talent show.
Our guest choreographer for High School Musical 2 will be Matthew Kiel. Kiel is a professional dancer and choreographer with many credits including a recent stint in Las Vegas as a performer.
Tickets are $15 for adults and $12 for senior citizens and students. Reservations can be made by calling 251-602-0630 after July 15.
Our Halloween show will be "The Salem Witch Trials," an original script by nationally acclaimed author and Mobile native Thomas Lakeman. All performances will be held at the Playhouse. School performances are October 21, 22, 28, & 29, and public performances are October 22, 23, 29, & 30. School Shows are $7.00; teachers are admitted free for the performance. One additional chaperone for every 15 students is also admitted free of charge. Tickets for the public performance are $15.00 for adults and $12.00 for students and senior citizens 65 and older.
On December 2 & 3, the Playhouse will stage the Christmas classic "Babes In Toyland" at the historic Saenger Theater in downtown Mobile at 6 Joachim Street. School Shows are $7.00; teachers are admitted free for the performance. One additional chaperone for every 15 students is also admitted free of charge. Performances are at 9:00 a.m. and 11:30 a.m. on December 2 & 3. Tickets for the public performance are $20.00 for adults and $15.00 for students and senior citizens 65 and older. The public performance will be held at 7:30 p.m. on December 3 at the Saenger.
AUDITION DATES for both shows are Monday and Wednesday, September 13 and 15 from 6:30 - 8:00 p.m. at the Playhouse.
